What We Need To Do About the 'Burbs
From: Colorlines
Are racism and regionalism connected? In this interview, john powell argues that regionalism, or the struggle for resources at a regional rather than a city or federal level, should be addressed in anti-racist work as they are undoubtedly connected. Because of the racial parallels with areas of concentrated poverty and economic inequity, powell links the fight for racial justice with progressive regional planning. Powell believes that this link is key for the current civil rights movement.
