How do we visualize an alternative to current criminal justice practice? Howard Zehr uses the metaphor of changing a camera lens to talk about shifting the dominant paradigm of criminal justice. He argues that the current system handles criminal acts as a violation of state and that criminal acts are rather violations of people and relationships. He argues that community has an integral role in restoring criminals and lessening the damage they incurred.
