Broadband Bill of Rights
From: Center for Digital Democracy
As television and internet become closer buddies in the digital age that we live in, what type of control will be exerted upon the open and diverse environment that the internet embodies? Will it mimic cable's closed "pay-per-view" system in which our viewing choices are limited? The Center for Digital Democracy urges us to resist private control of information technology and has created a Bill of Rights for Broadband access. These Rights center around the ideas of openness of access, equality of data, diversity of content, and freedom of expression. The following 10 principles support these ideas and maintains the open, nondiscriminatory, and democratic nature of the internet.
