$1000 Video Contest: Community Values & Immigration

Posted by: Sally Kohn , January 21, 2008

Help change the world — and win $1000. Make a short video that tells the story of why, no matter where we come from, we're all in it together!

UPDATE!  DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR CONTEST

Because of several requests for more time, we here at the Movement Vision Lab have decided to extend the deadline to Monday, March 10th at 5 PM EST!  We're expecting some fabulous entries!

$1000 Video Contest:  Community Values & Immigration

We're excited to announce our first-ever video contest at the Movement Vision Lab on Community Values and Immigration.  Watch this video to learn more:

We know that, as a country and as a world, we're all in it together and we're more than the sum of our parts.  That goes for both sides of the border.  What would it mean to value everyone equally, no matter where they come from and how they got here?  How would you tell America that immigration is about Community Values?

TO ENTER

Create a short video under three minutes (3 mins) in length and submit it through You Tube to the Community Values & Immigration Video Contest.  Your video can be fictional or documentary, live action or animation, any form you want it to take.  Just make sure it tells a positive story about the immigration and Community Values.  To learn more about Community Values, check out this short film.

The deadline for entries is 5:00pm EST on February 29, 2008.

CRITERIA & PRIZE

The winner will be selected by the staff of the Movement Vision Lab (with no right of appeal) and announced on the Movement Vision Lab website and You Tube.  The winning film, as well as runners up, will be shown on the Movement Vision Lab website and distributed to immigrant rights organizations across the United States.  The winning filmmaker will receive a check for $1000 from the Center for Community Change.

We reserve the right to remove from the contest videos that contain defamatory or obscene content or that invade the privacy of third parties or that contain racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content according to the sole opinion of staff of the Center for Community Change.

ELIGIBILITY

The Movement Vision Lab Community Values and Immigration Contest ("Contest") is open only to individuals who are residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older, and who have a valid user account with YouTube. The following individuals are not eligible: employees, contractors, directors and officers of Center for Community Change ("Sponsor"), Google, Inc., YouTube, LLC and each of their respective parent, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, distributors, web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and Contest agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Contest (collectively, "Contest Parties"), and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and spouse or "step" of each) and those living in the same households of each such individual.

DISCLAIMERS

By submitting your video, you are promising that you own all rights to all material in your video, including the music, images, script, and rights to include all persons, places or organizations included or depicted. The guy in this clips looks very sad and it would have been nice if a cheerful guy or a girl had been cast in this clip. But the matter he spoke was quite useful,i should say.
